For additional information about your use of this website, please see our Terms of Use.
Please note that some states have enacted consumer privacy laws that require us to share additional details about the collection, disclosure, use, and sale of personal information. If you are a resident of California, please refer to the Privacy Notice for Residents of California. Residents of other states should refer to the State Law Privacy Notice to determine if their state has enacted state-specific data privacy laws.
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of the policy. We encourage you to review the Privacy Policy whenever you access the Services to stay informed about our information practices and the ways you can manage your privacy.
We collect the following categories of personal information:
The data we collect directly from you as a website user, application user, or business customer is used specifically for business-related purposes and is never integrated into or used for unrelated purposes such as our products or services.
The data we collect depends on the services and features of our products that you use. You provide some data directly, such as when you create an account, submit a search query, or contact us for support. Our servers collect information known as “log data,” that includes your IP address, the time your computer or device visited the site, the URL of the website you arrived from, and the type of device or browser you used to access the site. We also get information by recording how you use our services and whether you navigate between our services and other sites. For example, we use cookies (small text files placed on your device) and web beacons (small graphic images contained in a Web page or email) and may receive usage data from software running on your device. For more information about our use of cookies, please see our Cookie Policy.
We also obtain information about consumers from third party sources, such as data licensors and public records. We use this information to validate and enrich information in our databases so that we can provide and improve our products.
Melissa collects and uses personal information in order to provide useful products and services to you and others. We also use this data to improve the quality of those products and services, to process payments, for fraud prevention, for advertising purposes, to comply with legal requirements, and to provide customer support to our users. We also use data to verify information we have received from other sources, to help us analyze the usage and effectiveness of our products and services, and to improve our products and services. We may use data to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements, and to protect our users against fraud and abuse. We may also use data to send you communications, including promotional communications, or to serve advertising to you.
If you are using Melissa’s products and services integrated with Google Drive, we use the information you choose to provide to us to check and verify names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, IP addresses, and Append-related contact information.
Melissa’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
When we process this personal data, we will only do so in the following situations:
If you have consented to our use of your personal data for a specific purpose, you have the right to withdraw your consent, but this will not affect the data processing that has already happened. Where we are using your information because we have a legitimate interest to do so, you have the right to object to that use, but in some cases, this may mean no longer being able to use the Services.
As a general rule, Melissa does not rent, sell, or share personal information that you have provided to us when using this website or our mobile apps, including Google Drive integration. The only circumstances under which we would share your personal information are when Melissa has obtained your explicit permission, or under the following circumstances:
Separate from your use of our website and Services, we do share, rent, and sell personal information that we have collected through third-party licenses, data brokers, or publicly available sources. The types of personal information that we sell include personal name, alias, home address, email address, telephone number, age, date of birth, and income. We share, rent, and sell this information to our customers as useful products for the purpose of address validation, identity verification, and marketing and CRM (customer relationship management) purposes.
We store the personal data we collect about you for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which we originally collected it. We may retain certain information for legitimate business purposes, as required by law, or where necessary to preserve it in contemplation of litigation, legal proceedings or an investigation. The storage periods are determined on a case-by-case basis that depends on factors like the nature of the information, why it is collected and processed, relevant legal or operational retention needs, and legal obligations. If you are using Google Drive integration, we will retain the files you provide to us for up to two (2) months.
