The U.S. Postal System assigns a delivery point to every address, which consists of a specific set of digits between 00 and 99. When combined with the ZIP+4 code, the delivery point provides a unique identifier for every deliverable address served by the USPS.
DPV (Delivery Point Validation) confirms that an address is deliverable and can be delivered to - right down to the apartment or suite number. DPV not only allows users to confirm known USPS addresses, but also identifies potential issues with addressing.
